Part-Time Administrative Assistant

The City of Gervais is accepting applications for a Part-Time Police Department Administrative Assistant. The successful applicant will have proven integrity, professionalism, and a willingness to serve, as well as be a self-starter, effective communicator, and problem solver. This is a confidential position that reports to the Chief of Police and performs a variety of clerical duties to include:  records management functions; processes/maintains law enforcement Criminal Justice records and reports; responds to citizen and government inquiries; processes and maintains department evidence; provides customer service to the public; and performs other related duties as assigned. Employment will be contingent upon passing a criminal background check.  Hourly pay is $22.60 - $28.85 DOQ. Job Qualifications:

Knowledge of general office practices and procedures

 Intermediate level computer skills, including knowledge of and facility in the use of Microsoft Office programs including word processing, mail merges, spreadsheets and charts, and PowerPoint

 Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form using correct grammar, spelling, and business English

 Ability to proofread publications and documents for correct grammar, spelling and appropriate language usage

 Understand and carry out oral and written instructions and procedures

 Work independently; exercise initiative and judgment in completing tasks and responsibilities

 Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities and complete assignments in a timely manner

 Work effectively with the public and coworkers in a friendly, courteous and cooperative manner

 Type accurately.

 Maintain a neat, professional manner and appearance in keeping with the City’s dress code

 Have a valid Oregon driver’s license

 High school graduation or equivalency


Desirable experience and Training:

Municipal/police administrative experience.

Experience using Law Enforcement Data Systems.

Bilingual  Spanish.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
